Is chiropractic care safe?

Is chiropractic care appropriate for children?

Challenging or traumatic birthing experiences are some of the reasons we have newborns checked for any spinal health-related problems. As children grow up, learning to crawl, learning to walk, riding a bicycle, partaking in school and sports activities, it may cause spinal health-related problems.

The adjustments performed on the spines of babies and children are significantly modified to those performed on an adult. The best way to explain the amount of pressure used to perform an adjustment on a child is to compare it to the gentle pressure you would use to test whether a tomato is ripe.

How long will I need to be under care?

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?

Chiropractic adjustments are gentle, specific, specialised forces applied in a specific direction to a spinal joint. Estelle performs these either by hand or by an instrument called an Activator. Sometimes people hear a “popping” noise when the joint is adjusted, which is gas and a normal part of the joint.

Most people find adjustments very comfortable and relaxing. There is a slight chance that an area might feel a little bruised following an adjustment if the area was inflamed and misaligned for a long time. These are usually short-lived and people report improvement in both pain and functionality.
